No position harmless for travelers in South Africa any longer

As criminal offense escalates in South Africa travelers with their cameras and hard cash have a large purple focus on on their bodies for criminal thugs who strike in gangs.

WHEN Four wheel drive Excursions GO Incorrect | South Africa 1997. Andrew St.Pierre White | 4xOverland

It’s normally dangerous touring overland with people today you really do not know, or have by no means travelled with before. This second story transpired in 1997 Deep into exploration for our second trails guide, I gained a small stipend from Mitsubishi Motors and was loaned a two-doorway Pajero diesel for a excursion to exploration […]

  1. Africa was dark Africa and will be Dark Africa again. The whites want to play Rugby with 15 black players and the referee on one side against only 2 white players on the other side in a Black stadium in a black country in Africa and expect to win. They are so deep in the shit they cannot see anything anymore.

  2. Looks like the dam (which to me continues to be a damn mystery?) withholding the factual truth and the consequences of what is really going on in SA from the world's media MAY BE ABOUT TO BURST SOON. Please, I hope so.

  3. tourists should not come to sa. if you are white you are a target – if my hubbie is away i inform my security armed response so they patrol more by me – im currently locked in my house with the beams on outside. i wanted to go to the shop but im to scared to as then I must pull car in in the dark – cant take the risk

  4. "I have given my life to try to alleviate the sufferings of Africa. There is something that all white men who have lived here like I must learn and know: that these individuals are a sub-race. They have neither the intellectual, mental, or emotional abilities to equate or to share equally with white men in any function of our civilization. I have given my life to try to bring them the advantages which our civilization must offer, but I have become well aware that we must retain this status: we the superior and they the inferior. For whenever a white man seeks to live among them as their equals they will either destroy him or devour him. And they will destroy all of his work.

Let white men from anywhere in the world, who would come to Africa, remember that you must continually retain this status; you the master and they the inferior like children that you would help or teach. Never fraternize with them as equals. Never accept them as your social equals or they will devour you. They will destroy you."
    — Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Nobel Prize Winner 1952, from his "African Notebook"

  5. The Tourism Industry as a whole has seen a 30% decline in the last year.
It is a fact that politics and the total malfunction of government and municipalities have strangled tourism.
Last Tuesday our neighbours behind us was held hostage by 5 African gunmen in their own home, while they had another family over for dinner. The gunmen forced their way into the home, not knowing how many people was inside the house.
The 2 families were simply having a braai, women in the kitchen, children in the pool…just think of this scenario for a few seconds…!
This week Wednesday 2 cyclists was attacked on their way out of a very popular nature reserve.
Tourists are attacked on Table Mountain often (almost weekly).
The actual crime rate is thought to be hidden in order to keep the industry going for as long as possible.
Unfortunately the effect is that more and more tourists are now victims themselves and word is getting out.
Its a sad thing for me to see my industry go up in smoke, however human life is precious to me and I do not wish for innoccent people to be harmed because politicians hide statistical truths.
Also…the number of International "tourists" entering S.A. must be untrue for the following reasons:
    1. Tourism industry businesses are suffering greatly due to a shortage in actual tourists
    2. International visitors must then be people who are X-South-Africans staying with friends and family…thus not contributing to the actual industry.
When tourism is your passion…this is depressing.

  6. I know that the tourist industry in SA would not like this, understandibly so, but this is what it would take for everyone to sit up and take note of the seriousness of the situation. That the SA tourist industry come to a halt.

  7. No place in SA is safe anymore. No place, I visited my grandparents in a gated, patrolled, guard dog roaming electrical compound. The 2nd night there a neighbor was raped, strangled and left for dead hanging in her closet. Only the slightest bend in one of her security gates gave way to trouble. She was a widow in her 80’s. No one has been prosecuted, the police here are quite apathetic towards crime. Nothing was taken but her cellphone. That individual walked by all the valuables including a safe. Makes me wonder… Africa has a unique brand of violence foreigners cannot possibly be prepared to face. I warn everyone, don’t be stupid you will pay with your life.

  8. It is an ongoing thing . The government and media prefer to pretend there is no problem . Even Ramaphosa recently lied to the international press overseas ,with a straight face, and without blinking , that there are no murders of farmers and that the country is very stable . Pathological liar .

  9. I appreciate the video which is true, but we need more than a video, we need action from the outside world. If u wanna b safe go to Mozambique for scuba adventures. More and more of us go there. The locals there are very friendly and welcoming. They know the importance of tourism.

  10. Its a scary place now I though i could have a beach wedding in tbe captown but that does not seen to be a safe thing to plan for now These criminals have basically ruined everything

  11. I work a couple blocks away from a popular Texas tourist attraction – the Alamo and the San Antonio River Walk. The Alamo is like a monument to the battle of Blood River – except that the ethnic Europeans were all killed. I rarely see a police officer patrolling the streets, but I've never felt unsafe here. The tourism industry is very important to the international image of cities. Cape Town is a beautiful city, tourists will still visit but won't venture out as much as they once did. The travel industry is aware of the safety restrictions of Cape Town.

  12. Come to sa at your own risk, but don’t say you have not been warned!!!! They might even follow you from the airport and mug you on your way to your destination, seems to happen often

  13. Awww, common, are all white people now Soy People? A pangaea. Give me a break. My ancestors were Vikings. A panga? Get real. Get a proper weapon. Man Up! (From the the last outpost of Male virility. Which is African, of course. And not in Cardingland!
