MegaStructures Burj al Arab, Dubai english report part 3




Burj Al Arab was created by architect Tom Wright of Atkins. The style and design and building were managed by Canadian engineer Rick Gregory also of WS Atkins. Design of the Island began in 1994. It was crafted to resemble the sail of a dhow, a kind of Arabian vessel. Two “wings” spread in a V to form a large “mast”, though the place involving them is enclosed in a enormous atrium. The architect Tom Wright[thirteen] explained “The customer desired a creating that would come to be an legendary or symbolic assertion for Dubai this is incredibly similar to Sydney with its Opera Property, London with Huge Ben, or Paris with the Eiffel Tower. It wanted to be a creating that would come to be synonymous with the name of the region.”[fourteen]
