Laphroaig (La-froyg) was founded in the early 1800s. It is the creation of the Johnston brothers, a couple of cattle farmers who, on the remote island of Islay off the southwest coast of Scotland, had the inspired idea to use their surplus barley to make whisky. Today, Laphroaig is one of Scotland’s most distinctive Islay Single Malt whiskies, a product of an uncompromising and tough environment that delivers an unmistakable, authentic peat smoke flavour, enhanced by Islay’s salt and sea air.
