The Deal

The celebrated Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art reopens to the public on Sept. 12. Plan your visit now and see the exciting works on display, including the collection of photographs of Muhammad Ali taken by Gordon Parks; or galleries filled with masterworks by leading Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists.

What you need to know:

  • Admission is free but donations are welcomed
  • You’ll need to reserve an entry time in advance; this helps promote social distancing and limits the number of guests in the museum and individual galleries
  • Museum hours:
    • Monday and Friday …  11am – 5pm
    • Thursday … 11am – 9pm
    • Saturday and Sunday … 10am – 5pm

From ancient Egyptian burial objects to Monet’s Water Lilies, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art showcases art from across time and cultures. In the original Nelson-Atkins Building, discover a world-class Chinese collection, American and Native American art, and paintings from the Renaissance to Impressionism. In the contemporary Bloch Building, you’ll find contemporary art, photography galleries and African art. Walk or picnic among the sculptures including the iconic Shuttlecocks in the 36-acre Sculpture Park.
