#Egypt #vacation EGYPT & JORDAN | Ep1: Solo Backpacking Egypt

Solo backpacking by means of Egypt in the initial leg of my month extensive journey by means of Egypt & Jordan.

Egypt & Jordan are undoubtedly on most people’s vacation bucket lists, but I’ve normally experienced the impression that the vast majority of folks vacation there on an organised tour.

So I desired to give it a go by myself and see what it was like managing it like a standard backpacking journey, being at hostel and reserving everything on the go.

This initial episode addresses the three weeks I invested solo travelling about Egypt.

Starting up out in Cairo, I frequented the Great Pyramids at Giza as well as exploring Islamic Cairo.

Then I took the practice down to Aswan, frequented Abu Simbel just before boarding a two day cruise on the Nile to Luxor.

At Luxor I frequented the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and other temples.

Then I went snorkelling and scuba diving in the Purple Sea at Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh and Dahab.

  1. Absolutely amazing again Karl. I did my first 2 backpacking trips because of you and they were great. Every time you upload new video i start planning the 3rd trip in my head already, keep doing what you do!

  2. That man who showed you round Islamic Cairo put a smile on my face? Your enthusiasm for Egyptian treasures is infectious – particularly Abu Simbul? I like the timeline that shows when the monuments were built – good use of graphics. Wasn't the Karnak temple used in "The Spy Who Loved Me"?

Anyway, you've convinced me that it can be done independently. You don't have to do a tour. I've got plenty of questions to ask you? Can I put them here or are you doing a follow up journal where I can ask about tickets, temperature etc?

  3. also really enjoying the cruise ride – i did it 20 years ago and find it hard to remember all these places so is nice to see it again 🙂 ps looks like a better time to go – i see it was windy but i went mid august and was super fucking hot, too hot to sunbather too (but abu simbdel was quieter at least haha)

  4. Great video as always, Karl! Ive been backpacking around the globe for years now, but Egypt and the surrounding areas are one of the places I still havnt explored! It was awesome seeing your perspective on things and how the backpacker scene is. Keep up the good work!

  5. Cheers for the early drop! Some of the shots you have done for this I can't quite work out how you done them solo! Fantastic video work, can't wait for jordan!

  6. This was great, as usual, Karl. And, as usual, you’ve convinced me that I DO need to go to Egypt after all. I stumbled down the ‘there’s loads of KFC wrappers and trash at the Pyramids’ route, which I think was heavily pushed by Karl Pilkington actually. It’s nice to see that this isn’t the case after all.
