We’ve been around since 1996 — longer than any other tour company in Florence. In fact, we’re the first Italy-based company to offer high-quality, small-group guided tours and events.
With two directors at the helm with performing arts backgrounds, we know that a little drama needs to be injected into any experience — it livens things up. And in a country with millennia of rich and complex history, this is certainly appreciated! We’re also fully licensed, and we firmly adhere to the law (we pay our taxes), ensuring we’re contributing to the sustainability of the beautiful historical sites we visit.
Our multi-talented guides are well-informed and fun to be with. They manage to impart lots of interesting information without being boring. Our tour content is unique, and whilst we’ve often been imitated, we have never been duplicated.
All of our staff and guides are either mother-tongue English or totally fluent speakers so you’ll never have a problem understanding us. We pre-reserve our museum entries to avoid waiting in long lines for museums. Our countryside tours visit family-run, historical estates for authentic experiences. You will never be treated like herded cattle as we keep our groups small, and strongly believe in offering experiences for travellers rather than tourists.
Booking with ArtViva on one of our 100-plus tours in Florence, Tuscany, the Cinque Terre, Venice, Rome and beyond, guarantees an entertaining learning experience. We can show you the marvellous insights of the historical cities in just a few hours on our city tours. We can take out into the Tuscan hillside, hiking, by bike or in the comfort of a minibus. In Rome, our city tour includes a great traditional activity — concluding with sipping wine in a historical piazza! Our gondola tour in Venice traverses the whole Venice island on the longest gondola ride in town. We offer hands-on cooking classes and wine tastings too. We also provide tailor-made tours for families (including tours especially designed to engage the youngest of travellers).
We have a great range of private tours and unique experiences, including in collaboration with friends of ours such as Maurizio Seracini (who’s searching for the lost Leonardo da Vinci at Palazzo Vecchio), Count Niccolò Capponi and Prince Duccio Corsini. We can also tailor events upon request.
We’re proud to say that the bulk of our business is based on recommendations and word-of-mouth from our happy clients, hundreds of whom return to us regularly. We have been recommended by Rick Steves, raved about in more than 25 guide books and newspaper articles, and have almost 600 five-point reviews on TripAdvisor (who have also given us a Certificate of Excellence in 2011 and 2012). Our Uffizi tour was even made into a BBC World documentary with Monty Python star Michael Palin.
