“Lake George is without comparison the most beautiful water I ever saw.” Well, Thomas Jefferson certainly was a gifted writer. • Newly renovated accommodations near scenic Lake George — one of the “12 Most Beautiful Lakes in the United States” (Travel + Leisure)
  • Speaking of, it’s a short drive into downtown, where you’ll find Millionaires’ Row — think gilded-age stone mansions and opulent lakefront estates
  • The resort itself is set amid the lower Adirondack Mountains — a.k.a. where you want to be for fall foliage — with plenty of hiking and biking trails nearby (bike rentals are complimentary)
  • Guests can enjoy dinner fireside at the Paddock Restaurant on-site — we suggest the bruschetta three-ways followed by pan-seared chicken with tomato cacciatore

Roaring Brook ranch and the staff that assisted me were all excellent. My one big issue, I don’t know if it’s on the end of the hotel or travel zoo, but I specifically bought this because they were offering horseback riding in the package. The travel zoo timeframe said I had to use the voucher before October, so I booked in mid September and yet when I booked with the hotel, they told me the horseback riding was no longer available during the week, but unfortunately I bought the travel zoo that you had to use during a week night stay. The hotel gave me a few options to substitute, dinner for two with a bottle of wine, or simply booking the next year or a full refund. I really wanted to experience this place, but I didn’t want to wait until the next year and put it off, I specifically booked this so I could do an in-state getaway during coronavirus. I just think Travelzoo should ensure all details are absolutely clear before they put certain date restrictions, or ensure to make an expiration date sooner if certain activities won’t be available. Thanks.

We took advantage of a Travel Zoo deal to spend two days/two nights at the Ranch, along with an included trail ride for both of us. We had a great time and would never heard of this resort were it not for Travel Zoo! It’s not on the Lake George “strip” of hotels, but it’s a very short drive to downtown (in one direction) and to the wonderful outlets (in the other direction). The Ranch is undergoing a renewal at the moment: new management, room renovations, overhaul of pool, grounds, and other amenities, and plans for a spa. The resort is rustic and gives off the “adult camp” feel that we were looking for. The highlight of our stay was the one-hour trail ride, led by a taciturn, seasoned cowboy and some younger wranglers. Each horse was healthy and beautiful (no swaybacks here!), and the ride through woods was peaceful and stunning. Cannot wait to go back and sign up for another trail ride! Also looking forward to seeing the Cinderella story of this resort over the next year or two. Note: VERY dog-friendly, if you would like to have your dog stay with you.

I am not a complainer but this experience is justified. As health care workers we’ve had a lot of stress these past few months. It’s my husbands bday weekend and we wanted to get away for an enjoyable weekend. We were assigned a room that was directly above people playing very loud music and smoking cigars We asked for another room and after some hesitation JP, manager, gave us room 33. We went to that room and upon entering found a bag of trash in the room and trash in the wastebasket in the bathroom. We were appalled and phoned JP who sent the maid to check it out Kristen came and said that the trash wasn’t there when she cleaned the room. We expressed our concern that someone had been in the room since she cleaned it. She didn’t have an explanation and left to go tell JP. He sent someone named Valerie, the inspector, up to the room. She said that she had inspected the room after it was cleaned and the trash hadn’t been there. We said we’ll it is now and clearly someone had been in the room. We said we needed to know if the room was sanitized especially with COVID she insinuated that we had something to do with the trash! We told her to get the manager, JP. After about 20 minutes he came to the room and was not sympathetic to our concerns. He said that other guests had been in the room to check it out but deemed it too small for them and that they had left the trash. He suggested we go somewhere else to stay and we would receive a full refund. Considering we had just traveled 3 hours and now it was an hour or more since we arrived we asked if he could have the room cleaned again. He ignored the request and said maybe this place is just not for you!!!! We then asked for clean sheets so that we, ourselves, could change them because we didn’t know what the other people had done in the room. Again, JP. Suggested we go somewhere else and that he would not charge us for the room. We told him we paid through travelzoo and he said he would personally call and request a refund for us. He left saying there are a lot of other hotels in the area. Well it was 6:00 on a Friday night and we called around and couldn’t find a vacancy. My husband and I decided we would try and make the best of it.

Everyone who helped us, was very pleasant. Relaxing property with outdoor games, jumbo chess, corn hole, ping pong, outdoor fire pit, rocking chairs on porches, chairs near the horse field. I enjoyed the time relaxing on property, but it was also conveniently located to Lake George.

Other Comments

They have an impressive stable of horses, obviously well cared for. The trail ride was through a peaceful forest.
